About FutureChemistry

FutureChemistry is a boutique consultancy, specializing in designing and building equipment, and validating processes in the radiopharmaceutical industry.

We pride ourselves on offering custom solutions, without any claims on the developed intellectual property and independent from equipment manufacturers.

This allows us to focus on satisfying client requirements, and gives us the freedom to source equipment/components from any supplier, or design and build it in-house.

Team

Pieter Nieuwland, PhD

Managing Director

With a background in chemistry, Pieter has built up knowledge and experience how to translate small scale chemical reactions into automated processes. Having lead designs for several (semi-) automated setups for organic, inorganic and radiochemical processes, he now focuses fully on medical isotope processing and radiopharmaceutical manufacturing. As the managing director, he leads the company's daily operations and market strategies.

Dion van der Born, PhD

Radiochemistry Services Consultant

Dion has performed a PhD research project at the VU University Medical Centre. In this project, he has developed a novel methodology to incorporate a fluorine-18 labelled trifluoromethyl (CF3) functional group onto an aromate. This method enables the radiolabelling and biological evaluation of drugs and drug candidates which contain the CF3 group.

As a radiochemistry services consultant at FutureChemistry, Dion is responsible for the development of radiolabelled compounds and their biological evaluation.

Mariana Cardeira, MsC

Process Engineer

After obtaining her Masters degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Mariana joined FutureChemistry as a junior process engineer. With a background in chemical engineering and cGMP, she is responsible for designing and improving radiochemical processes as well as building and managing technical documentation. In this way she contributes to the advancement of innovative technologies in the medical isotope field.

Ofer Yifrach-Stav, PhD

Head of Quality

Ofer has over 18 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. He holds a BSc in Biotechnology Engineering, an MSc in Environmental Engineering, and a PhD in Computer Science, along with certifications as an ISO Lead Auditor in ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, and ISO 27001:2022. His expertise spans the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and cosmetics sectors, with deep knowledge of quality assurance, validation and manufacturing processes. He has a proven track record in creating, implementing, and leading quality management systems, as well as providing training in these areas and leading inspections by the FDA, Health Canada, and other regulatory bodies.

Willem van Winkoop, MsC

Business Developer

After obtaining his Master's degree in biotechnology, Willem took on several roles that further developed his skills in technical and business disciplines. With hands-on experience in various fields, including both a year as fermentation scientist and a year as business analyst at a biotech startup, he now supports and fosters business ventures, partnerships, and collaborations at FutureChemistry.

As a Business Analyst, Willem bridges technical expertise with business development in the evolving radiopharmaceutical space.
